The pets

Nothing makes living in a 40' school bus better then living in a 40' school bus with two little kids. And course, the only thing that could make living in a 40' school bus with two little kids better is living in a 40' school bus with two little kids, a St. Bernard, and a huge Burmese cat. Check all boxes! For those of you unaware, Asta is the St. Bernard and Dutch is the Burmese cat.

The Kitchen and Dining Room

Cooking over the fire is fun, although it was great to have the propane to back it up. The real challange is cooking with no refridgeration - what a different world that is! Our kitchen was wonderful, and the whole thing folded up into a little suitcase.

Hot Bath

Of course, there was also a tin tub for hot baths....if you were the right size. Kees spends most of his bath times in introspection, as you can see.

The Bathtub

Of course, best of all is having a creek to swim in, as nice as the shower is. We cut stairs into the bank and a small rock bridge over the small tributary to our beautiful swimming hole - actually, there were three different hole, each of varying depth. Perfect for all levels.

The Bathroom

Since the bus contained nothing but bedroom and living room space, a pleasant outdoor bathroom was a must. We built this one about six hundred feet from camp in a small clearing by digging a huge hole and putting a 55 gallon drum cut in half (with a hole cut for the toilette seat) over the top. A bucket of ash, a bucket for toilette paper and magazines, and a hand sanitizer. Add it all up and you have an experience fit to rival the marble halls of kings.

The Shower

We had a propane shower set up between three fir trees - after hauling five gallons of water from the creek, it was all the more enjoyable.
